Last time we visited cool things in Sligo.
The next few days, we spent some time wandering around Ballinacarrow, where we were staying. It’s really lovely.
Remember our whinging about the narrow roads? We decided to measure one, using the only measuring tools at hand:
The next day we decided to drive up to County Donegal to visit Slieve League (the Gray Mountain). We stopped for breakfast on the way at cute little café in Ballyshannon and each had a mini Irish breakfast.1
Plus a reminder of home!
Then, past Donegal Town onto Slieve League.

We parked in the lower lot, donned our boots and up we went.
It was stunning.
We were told by the locals that a sunny day is rare around here, but we had a glorious afternoon.
Plus, say it with me…
We hiked up the ridge
After climbing back down to the car, we picked up a very tired fellow hiker and drove back to Donegal for dinner.
And then… home.
Next up … lakes, forests, wells, and beaches
BTW: the standard experience with indoor dining here: EVERYONE showed their vaxx cards; EVERYONE provided their contract tracing info; EVERYONE wore their masks; NO-ONE complained.
Amazing! Love these photos and getting a glimpse of your adventures. Just beautiful!
p.s. Kevin, get out of the road.
Looks like your weather has been significantly better than here. Wind and rain, with a side of rain and wind. 30 mph today. We saw cliffs similar to those, but from more touristy places. Looks like you are having a ball. Not to mention you are missing out on American football players who claim to be ‘immunized’, implying vaccinated, but flat out lying. Sounds like the best birthday ever for you, my queen.
